9 Things To Remember When You Feel Broken Inside

We have all had that time in our lives where everything around us just seems to be going wrong, almost as if the whole world is conspiring against us. There is only so much pain, stress, and despair a person can take until they’ve reached their limits—to the point where they feel broken inside.
If you’re feeling broken, know that this isn’t the end. In fact, it may just be the beginning of a new you.
NINE THINGS TO REMEMBER WHEN YOU FEEL BROKEN INSIDE:

1) Remember that pain allows us to grow.

You can’t just expect to coast through life without coming across some bumps along the way. In order for us to live life to the fullest, we need to overcome the challenges that life throws at us. It’s the hard, life-changing experiences that allow us to grow, and become a better person. Overcoming or working through any kind of pain leaves us wiser, stronger, and much more resilient.

2) Remember to accept and honor your feelings.

Don’t be afraid of your emotions. Don’t fight them, run away from them, or block them out.  Welcome them, accept them, regardless of what they are. We were born with all emotions. They are neither good or bad, they just are. You need to let out whatever emotion it is that is making you want to cry and scream in order to make room for happiness to flow back into you. Burying your emotions isn’t healthy or natural, and they will eat away at your soul until it all comes bursting out.  Be kind to yourself and accept your feelings. So much of life is about what you feel rather than what you think. Having a healthy emotional life is essential to living a happy life with high energy and a sense of fulfillment and satisfaction.

3) Remember your purpose in life.

When we’re hurting inside, we often question why we’re here to begin with. We’re here to lead happy, fulfilling, love-based lives, leaving the world better than we found it. Your life experiences, both negative and positive, allow you to broaden your perspective of the world. The pain you’ve endured lets you empathize and identify with another’s pain and value their happiness as well. Keep your “why” in mind, and reflect on how the negative situations you’ve encountered allow you to have a more well-rounded perspective and better serve your purpose on Earth

4) Remember to focus on the positive aspects of life.

When we’re feeling broken inside, we tend to take on a pessimistic view of the world. We see darkness and we allow ourselves to give in to darkness. One of the first steps towards healing is to surround yourself with positivity. Think of how you can still go outside and enjoy a sunny day, smell the beautiful flowers, and smile at a stranger. Remember that the world isn’t working against you. There are new days ahead; there is always a tomorrow.

5) Remember that your friends and family are there for you.

We need friends and family who love and care about us, especially when we are hurting. Your friends and family know you better than anyone else, and they know how to make you feel better. Don’t be afraid to pour your heart out to them. Feel their comfort and love. What we all need is a loving ear to listen to us with their heart.

6) Remember to focus on doing what you love.

Often times when we’re feeling down, we tend to neglect the things that bring us happiness. Focusing on doing what we love allows us to pick up the broken pieces and make ourselves feel whole again. As for how to do that? Start by just breathing. Go outside, get some sunlight, and take a walk through nature. Find that teeny-tiny figurative candle in your life to light the way through the tunnel. Find something to look forward to, even if it’s small. Break your day down into small bites, and look forward to what’s right in front of you.

7) Learn to live with your emotions.

Remember that you cannot change or control your emotions. You can learn how to be with them, live peacefully with them, release them, and you can manage them, but you cannot control them. You can’t choose the emotions you feel, and you can’t decide when they arise. Our emotions are unwelcome intruders in our mind, and you don’t have to identify with them. Don’t let your emotions take a hold of your life.

8) Remember that this is only temporary.

I know it seems like these negative emotions will last forever, but they won’t. Sometimes you have to hit rock bottom before you can have the strength to get up again. You have so much of your life ahead of you, and these are just fleeting moments in the grand scheme of things. So get up, get out there, and live life as if it’s your last day. Start by being your own person and taking the wheel, instead of letting it push you down. You are in charge of your own life, and no one can actually help you until you decide to help yourself. Whoever you are, know that you can be something. You can accomplish. You can do what you want to do as long as YOU want to. Positive thoughts are the key. This is all only temporary.

9) Accept the things you cannot change, and change the things that you can.

There will always be circumstances and situations in our lives that are beyond our control, but one thing that we can control is our reactions to these things. We can let pain and suffering shape us for better or worse. You cannot change your past, but you are in charge of your future, and your happiness.
