This is a touching story about a boy called Kyle and how one kind action can change someone’s life.
There was a boy in high school and one day he saw a boy from his class, called Kyle, walking home having been in school.
Kyle was carrying all his books from school. The boy thought “why would he be taking all his books home from school on the weekend? He must be a nerd.”
The boy, as always, had a busy weekend of parties and football with his friends and carried on having forgotten about Kyle. As the boy walked off, a group of kids ran towards Kyle and as they ran into him, his books dropped all over the floor. He fell over in the dirt, he lost his glasses and his books were scattered. The boy looked at Kyle and just saw sadness.
The boy went over to Kyle, handed him his glasses and told him “those kids were idiots, forget them.” Kyle genuinely smiled and said “thanks” with total gratitude. The new friend helped Kyle up, helped him collect his books and they had a conversation and found that they lived close to each other. The boy asked Kyle why he had not seen him before.
Kyle had previously gone to a private school which is why the boy hadn’t seen him much. The boy didn’t hang out with private school kids.
Kyle and the boy got on really well so Kyle was invited to play football on Saturday. They hung out all weekend and the more the boy got to know Kyle the more he liked him. The boy’s friends also really liked Kyle too.
The boy saw Kyle on Monday with all his books and said to him “you are going to have massive muscles if you carry those books every day.” Kyle laughed and gave the boy some of the books to carry.
For the next four years, Kyle and the boy became best friends and right before school finished they were thinking about university. Kyle wanted to go to Georgetown and the boy to Duke. The boy knew that they would remain friends for a long time. Kyle wanted to be a doctor and the boy was going to study business.
Kyle was head boy of the class and so he had to do a speech for their school graduation. On the day of graduation, the boy saw him and acknowledged that Kyle had really thrived during high school, as all the girls loved him.
Kyle began his speech
Graduation is a time to thank those who helped you make it through those tough years. Your parents, your teachers, your siblings, maybe a coach -but most your friends. I am here to tell all of you that being a friend to someone is the best gift you can give them I am going to tell you a story.
Kyle continued with the touching story of how he met the boy. Kyle had planned on committing suicide the weekend he met the boy, he had cleaned out his locker so that his mom did not have to do it, and was carrying all his belongings home.
Kyle ended his speech
Thankfully I was saved. My friend saved me from doing the unspeakable.
It’s important to never underestimate how the simplest of actions and gestures can truly change someone’s life. Everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about. Be kind. Always!
