According to psychologist, Dr. Susan Babel, a person’s emotions can affect chronic pain. Dr Babel believes that chronic pain isn’t only caused by physical injury. It can also be caused by emotional issues. Below is a list of aches and pains you may be having that have nothing to do with twisting the wrong way or a pulled muscle.
1. Headaches
Headaches are the body’s way of telling you it needs something right away. Migraines and other types of headaches could mean you need more water, food, less of something or more of something; but first and foremost, most headaches are caused by stress. Your body is telling you it’s time to start chilling out and learn to relax more.
2. Neck Pain
Having a pain in the neck is more than just your kids, dog, or neighbor getting on your last nerve. If you are suffering from neck pain, your body may be alerting you of all the guilt you are carrying around and you need to start letting it go.
If you are having a hard time forgiving yourself or someone else, use guided meditation or seek help in order to release the guilt. Let it go. Guilt serves no purpose.
3. Shoulder Pain
A lot of us who carry burdens, or problems, will carry the brunt of that pain in the shoulders. You’ve heard the terms, “shouldering a problem” or “carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders.”
It’s there, it’s heavy and it puts pressure on you. Learn to let go of problems that you can’t do anything about. In other words, don’t worry so much about things you have no control over.
4. Upper Back Pain
This type of pain could mean you don’t feel you have a lot of emotional support. Either you are feeling unloved or you need to start showing more love to the people in your life. Maybe it’s time you start reaching out to the people you love and strengthen those bonds a bit more. Maybe you are single. Go out more and socialize. You never know who you might meet.
5. Lower Back Pain
Pain in this area may mean that you aren’t feeling grounded or sure of your financial stability. Try to sort through your money problems with a financial planner and see if they can be resolved.
You could also try spending less money on things you don’t need and concentrate more on your loved ones or doing things that cost nothing, but bring joy into your life.
6. Hip Pain
If you feel a pain or tightness in your hips, it could be a sign that you are stuck in life or afraid to move forward. It also could be a sign of not wanting to make a major decision about something. Facing fear and moving forward is hard, but when you’ve done it once and see the results, you will want to do it more.
7. Knee Pain
Knee pain is a sign that you like things your way or highway. You aren’t open to giving away recognition nor do you want anyone else to take credit for anything.
Pain in the knees is your unwillingness to bend. Think about that next time your knees hurt and see what is going on in your life. It could be it’s time to bend.
