How many times have you heard the saying, “You should learn from your mistakes?” Of course, everyone is human and, as humans, we are bound to make mistakes. That’s OK, so long as you learn from them and not keep repeating them. That’s the key.
So, how do we do that? By remembering a few simple life lessons, you can be a better you, stop repeating the same mistakes, and live the best life you can live. Read on to discover the 5 life lessons to always remember.
1. Life is short
This one seems like a no-brainer, but it’s something people tend to forget. They put off doing things they want to do: taking a dream vacation, writing that novel that’s been brewing in their brain for years, getting or continuing their higher education, to name a few. It’s easy to convince yourself that there’s always tomorrow, but before you know it, a LOT of tomorrows have passed. Always remember that tomorrow is not guaranteed for anyone. So, start doing those things you’ve been putting off!
2. Let go of what doesn’t make you happy
Holding on to anyone or anything that makes you unhappy is never a healthy thing to do. What happens is you wind up wasting years of your life because you think (or people tell you) it’s the right thing to do, you’re afraid to be alone, you’re afraid of change, you’re afraid to leave your comfort zone. Whatever the reason, STOP! You’re only going to wind up at the end of your life with a lot of regrets and bitterness. Nobody wants that!
3. Give quality time to people you love
These days everyone seems to be busy with work, school, meetings, or other obligations. Then, in their free time, they plant themselves behind the TV, computer or smart phone as their way to “relax.” They text with friends and family or play games while the people who are right next to them are ignored. They feel ignored, too. We should all take 2 to 3 hours a day to spend quality time with the people who are most important. And, don’t forget to include time for yourself. Everyone needs some “me time” once in a while.
4. Be kind
“Be kind whenever possible. It is always possible.” ~Dalai Lama A simple, kind word or gesture can make anyone’s day better, including your own. We always remember the people who were mean to us and the people who were kind. Think about how you want people to remember you. Making other people happy with your kindness will lead to your own happiness. And don’t forget to be kind to yourself, too.
5. Life is what you make it
How many times have you heard this cliche? Well guess what? Cliche or not, it’s true! Nobody can make your life better. Nobody can live your life for you. People don’t have great lives because of luck. It’s up to you to make your life the best life it can be. Of course, others can help you along the way. But it is up to you to be the catalyst that makes your life awesome! Source & courtesy
