5 KEY STEPS TO SIMPLIFYING YOUR LIFE AND FINDING TRUE HAPPINESS

Sometimes, finding true happiness comes when you cut out the excess junk from your life. Here’s how you can do that today.

1) “Simplify your personal space at home and at work.”

Take a look around your space, both in the office and in your house. “If your environment seems crowded to you or to others, you have too much in it. Get rid of things, or put them away.” You don’t have to throw everything out, but sometimes people use storage units for a great reason – to store the things they don’t need! When you need to lighten your load in life, oftentimes you can do this by simply cleaning up around your workspace and you will feel the gratification of cleanliness in an instant.

2) “Simplify your life by limiting the activities in which you engage.”

“Most of us want to please others,” but sometimes, “you just need to say no. If you try to do too much, you increase stress levels, are less productive, and function more slowly. Your hyperactivity also has longer-term physical consequences.” Remember that every time you say yes, you are inviting a new responsibility into your life. It is okay to say no and to prioritize the things that need prioritizing in your life. Take a moment, take a step back, and remember what you need to do and what you want to do. THEN, decide what to commit to.

3) “Simplify your life mission.”

You can’t do everything and be everything. If you want to be successful in any field, you need to prioritize that goal and work towards it while eliminating the distractions that may hold you back. “Think about the things you’d like to accomplish in this life. Write them down. Prioritize. Make the final statement simple. In fact, if you can’t get it written into one sentence, you probably need to eliminate some items.”

4) “Simplify your sense of need.”

When you want something, it sometimes overtakes what you actually need. “Learn to differentiate between need and want. Write down what you really need in your life.” Keep what you need, keep your goals in mind so that you can always accomplish your needs before all else.

5) “Focus.”

Finally, one of the most important keys to simplifying your life and finding true happiness is to just focus. Focus on what you are going to do with your life and let the rest of the distractions melt away. “As you simplify and remove distractions from your life, cultivate your ability to focus on what remains.” When you remove those distractions, you’re frequently removing a great deal of stress that you didn’t realize was holding you back from the true happiness you’ve been seeking.
