When you ask yourself this, be ready for the changes to come.
Every time you feel like your life is stagnant, realize that you can’t try to resolve everything at once. When you try to change just for the sake of change, and without purpose, you can dig yourself into a deeper hole.
Instead, take a step back and ask yourself these five questions:
1. What is the one thing you could do to have the biggest positive impact in your life?
This question brings you to what is important right now. Realize that you can incorporate new and exciting things into your life for the better.
2. What is “good enough”?
Expecting perfection is a sure-fire way to feel like you aren’t accomplished enough and start to waver in your confidence. And when this happens, you will start to feel stuck in life. Realize that you need to set realistic expectations for yourself for what is acceptable and what can bring you satisfaction in life.
3. What do you really want and are you possibly stopping yourself from reaching it?
We have more control of our lives than we think we do. Take ownership of this so you don’t feel as helpless when there are unexpected changes in your life. You can control how you respond to them. Find out what you truly want in life and see if it just your attitude that is preventing you from reaching it.
4. What will be the most important thing to you in ten years?
When you ask yourself this, you bring yourself out of thinking only short-term. It also helps you remain true to your values for the long term and help you focus on what you want to be.
5. Who do you need to become to do what you want to do?
Don’t get caught up in deciding what your next step should be. There is a difference between action and actually doing. Fight off that resistance of what is happening in your life and how you can change it.
